It is advisable for all retirees to keep a copy of this memo with their pension order and educate their spouse about its contents.  This memo clarifies that in case, the retired employee dies before the commutation of pension is restored i.e. within 15 years from the date of payment of commutation amount (normally on or around the date of retirement), the commuted value of pension shall not be deducted from the Family Pension.
