Expected DA for banker from May 2023

Expected DA Calculation Updated on 31.03.23 on the basis of CPI for the months of Jan'23, Feb'23 & assumptions of CPI for the month of Mar'23 as mentioned hereunder. The CPI for the month of Feb'23 announced today i.e. on 31.03.23 as 132.70; declined by 0.10 from the last month (as per revised base year 2016) (The base year was changed from Oct 2020)

  1. On assumptions if there is an increase of 0.50 points CPI in the month of Mar'23. it is assumed keeping in view on going regular rise in prices of commonly required daily needs items / commodities which is making month over month difficult to manage family budget; whereas it is quite surprisingly that in the month Feb'23 CPI index is down by 0.10 point from the last month. Accordingly, on the this assumption, we may expect there would be an increase of 8 slabs and the total tentatively revised DA slabs would be 596 from May'23 in terms of 11th BPS.
  2. On assumptions if there is an increase of 0.30 points CPI in the month of Mar'23. On the basis of this assumption, we may expect there would be an increase of 7 slabs and the total tentatively revised DA slabs would be 595 from May'23 in terms of 11th BPS.
  3. On assumptions if there is an increase of 0.20 points CPI in the month of Mar'23. On the basis of this assumption, we may expect there would be an increase of 7 slabs and the total tentatively revised DA slabs would be 594 from May'23 in terms of 11th BPS.

RBI asks banks to make extra provisioning on top 20 business houses

To ready up for any contingency, the Reserve Bank of India has advised banks to set aside specific provisioning towards their exposure to top 20 conglomerates of India.

Highly placed sources say that the move is more to lean on the side of caution and should not be construed as any ‘warning signal’ from the regulator.

PSU banks and private banks are in a much better shape now than before. Therefore, the regulator felt that it would be good for the system if banks start taking prudential provisioning on business groups now,” said senior banker aware of the matter.

It is learnt that the regulator was mulling on these lines after the FY22 annual inspection, which concluded for most banks by September–November last year, but the decision to implement the need for prudential provisioning became imminent in the wake of ongoing collapses of banks in the US and Europe.

Some of large corporations also have significant foreign debt exposure in the form of bonds and loans and it would be better to be step ahead of the curve to ensure that banks in India don’t suffer because of the global turmoil,” said another senior executive who didn’t want to be named. Reliance Industries, Adani group and Vedanta are conglomerates to name a few, with heavy exposure to foreign debT

An email sent to RBI seeking confirmation remained unanswered till press time.

Another banker aware of the matter added that with overall asset quality position and profitability of the banking system at a multi-decade best level, the RBI felt that now would be a good time to shore up some provisioning to meet any contingencies.

In the recently-concluded meeting with PSU bank chiefs, the Finance Ministry has also asked PSU banks to identify stress points, including “concentration risks and adverse exposures”.

Won’t hit P&L

When asked whether the move would hurt the profits of banks significantly, most bankers said it won’t; the reason being the freedom available with banks to decide on the quantum of provisioning. Since the top 20 conglomerates are standard assets for the banking system and the nudge by the regulator is more towards building a buffer, banks can decide on how much they would want to set aside if they have exposure to any of the 20 conglomerates.

“The regulations require us to take at least five per cent provisioning in a year towards these group exposures, but some may want to maintain a slightly higher sum, at an entity-level,” said a CEO of a private bank. The prudential provisioning will reflect as part of provisioning buffer held by banks. However, even if banks have already created a floating provision, this exercise would be in addition to that and should be identifiable with the group exposure.

Engineers of Computer Science Engineering can work as a software/hardware engineer, which are the two main sectors in the computer industry. Software is the set of programmed instructions that enable a computer to perform specified functions & hardware covers the physical elements of a computer system & is concerned with the design, development, assembly, manufacture and maintenance.

The job prospects for computer engineers are increasing rapidly both in India and abroad because of the booming in this industry. System study, analysis, design, programming are the main areas which provide various probabilities to the computer science engineers to shave themselves in their career.

Computer Engineers develop computer programs for industries. They are engaged in analysing problems for solutions, formulating and testing, using advanced communications or multi-media equipment or working in teams for product development. They can work as programmers, web developers and E- commerce specialists with industries that build or use computer-based systems such as telecommunications, automotive, aerospace etc as per research level.

National and multi-national computer manufacturing companies; computer hardware system design and development companies, computer networking companies and software development companies as well as hardware assembling and maintenance companies, data processing departments of modern industries and in areas where computers and computer aided systems are used, such as aeronautics and space science, the petroleum industry, chemical plants and power plants and management consultancy organizations are some among the probable work places.

  • FUTURE

The future of Computer Science Engineering can’t be predicted actually. What will be the future scopes of computer science engineering is a crystal ball question. There are various possibilities among many fields. Some of them are: quantum computing, massively parallel computers, computing using biological components or plastic elements to make implantable or wearable computing devices or evolution of Drupal. Direct neural connections between computers and the brain. More virtual reality, artificial intelligence, robotics.

Provident Fund Body EPFO Fixes 8.15% Interest Rate For 2022-23

Retirement fund body EPFO (Employees' Provident Fund Organisation) fixed 8.15 per cent  rate of interest on employees' provident fund (EPF) deposits for 2022-23 at its meeting today.

In March 2022, EPFO had lowered the interest on EPF for 2021-22 to an over four-decade low of 8.1 per cent for its about five crore subscribers, from 8.5 per cent in 2020-21.

This was the lowest since 1977-78, when the EPF interest rate stood at 8 per cent.

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation's apex decision-making body Central Board of Trustees (CBT) has decided to provide 8.15 per cent rate of interest on EPF for 2022-23 at its meeting on Tuesday, the Ministry of Labour and Employment said.

The 8.5 per cent interest rate on EPF deposits for 2020-21 was decided by CBT in March 2021.

After the CBT's decision, the interest rate on EPF deposits for 2022-23 will be sent to Ministry of Finance for concurrence.

After the government's ratification, the interest rate on EPF for 2022-23 will be credited into accounts of over five crore subscribers of EPFO.
