44 trains to be built in railway coach factoryThe Railway Ministry said in a statement that it has invited revised tenders for semi high speed 44 Vande Bharat trains, for which a pre-bid meeting will be held on September 29. The ministry said that the tender will open on November 17, 2020. According to Railway Ministry officials, train sets will be manufactured at ICF / Chennai, RCF / Kapurthala and MCF / Rae Bareli. It will be local (indigenous) tender and in two phases. According to the new tender, only those companies will participate in it.
The ministry also said that the tender has been divided into three phases. Which has propulsion, control and other equipment. The ministry said that this is the first major tender under the revised DPIIT norms of self-sufficient India. In this, the ratio of local content will be minimum 75 percent.
Earlier, on 22 August, the Railways canceled the tender for the construction of 44 cm high speed Vande Bharat trains, which were invited last year. According to a statement, the new tender is according to the Make in India policy of the Government of India.
44 trains will be constructed in this ambitious Make in India project, in which each train will have 16 coaches. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the first Vande Bharat train between New Delhi and Varanasi in February 2019.
At the same time, in October of the same year, the second Vande Bharat train was started between New Delhi to Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. There will be a pre-bid meeting on September 29, the tender will open on November 17, 2020.
