The cause of death of Megha Nayak, a 32-year-old bank manager, remains unknown even after a postmortem examination. Megha was found dead in her flat in the Kalyanpur area. Doctors were unable to determine the exact cause, so they preserved her viscera (internal organs) for further testing. Her family came to the postmortem facility but didn’t share any information or speak with the media.
Close friends of Megha shared that she was deeply affected by her divorce. After her transfer, Megha was supposed to start working at the Farrukhabad branch of Aryavart Gramin Bank. Although she went to the bank to join, she did not return to work after that. Items found in her room, such as liquor bottles and cigarette filters, suggested she may have been using these substances regularly.
Megha’s body was discovered in flat number 403 of Anand Apartment, located in Guba Garden near Kalyanpur IIT. She was recently transferred from Kannauj to Farrukhabad in late August, and her new post was at the Hathiapur branch near Farrukhabad city. After reporting to the bank initially, Megha stopped attending work, which caused concern.
According to Madhusudan Srivastava, Regional Manager of Aryavart Gramin Bank, Megha did not return to the Hathiapur branch after her initial visit. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abhishek Pandey, responsible for the Kalyanpur area, explained that forensic experts investigated Megha’s flat after her body was discovered. They found alcohol bottles and a large number of cigarette filters in her room. However, no signs of foul play or suspicious activities were evident. Police also reviewed CCTV footage from the apartment complex, which showed that no one else had entered Megha’s flat recently.
Family members disclosed that Megha had been married to a railway assistant loco pilot three years ago. Due to conflicts, they separated by mutual consent. However, the separation affected Megha emotionally, and she struggled to cope with the situation. She reportedly turned to alcohol and cigarettes and lost interest in her job. Her father, Ramji Lal Nayak, who works as an Assistant General Manager (AGM) at Central Bank in Mumbai, also refrained from making any statements to the media at the postmortem facility. Relatives remained silent about Megha’s personal struggles
A team of three doctors—Dr. Alok Mishra, Dr. Archana Singh, and Dr. Ramkesh—conducted Megha’s postmortem on Thursday. Since they could not identify a specific cause of death from the examination, they retained her viscera and liver samples for further analysis. The doctors noted that Megha’s body appeared to be around five days old at the time of the examination.
