19TH JULY - BANK NATIONALIZATION DAY
With the objective to make the banks contribute for the growth of country and to take the
services of the banks available to the common masses, 14 major banks were nationalized on
19th July 1969 and thereafter 6 more banks were nationalized on 20th April 1980. The objective
behind nationalization was all round economic growth towards nation building and to shift focus
from ‘class banking’ to ‘mass banking’. The nationalized banks have played their role to
perfection during this period of 47 years.
We celebrate with pride the bank nationalization day every year and rededicate ourselves to the
growth of the country and to take the banking service further to the unbanked areas. On this
47th anniversary day of bank nationalization, we salute our members for upholding Trade Union
spirit to fight injustice, protect rights of working class and in maintaining unity, solidarity &
conviction in making AIABOF stronger throughout its journey. We also congratulate entire work
force of ALLAHABAD BANK for taking our services to every nook and corner of the country to
empower the common masses despite various constraints and at the cost of personal comforts.
We are well aware of Government’s anti public sector , anti public banking and financial sector
reforms and its intention and unvarying moves in that direction. We are determined to struggle
as we have been hitherto. MPBOA has issued a communication No.14 dated 16.07.2016 on this
occasion and the same is appended for the information and circulation to members.
We call upon all the officers/ members to participate in the STRIKE call on 29th July under the
banner of UFBU with zest. A TOTAL STRIKE on 29th July will be our befitting reply to
government’s action in restraining our Strike on 12th-13th July.
With greetings,
