The Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) has arrested the manager of the Indian Bank’s Rathorepur branch in Machrehta, Sitapur, Vivek Kumar Singh, and a daily wage employee, Ankit Kumar, red-handed while accepting a bribe.
Singh was demanding a bribe of Rs 13,000 from a farmer named Vinod Kumar from Mishraikh in exchange for approving a farmer credit card loan.
Kumar had filed a complaint with the CBI in Lucknow, after which a team was sent to Sitapur on Saturday to trap him. As soon as Kumar gave Rs 11,000 as bribe to Ankit Kumar, CBI officials present nearby caught him.
Subsequently, the branch manager Vivek Kumar Singh was also arrested. The CBI also raided his residences in Prayagraj and Sitapur. Both were sent to jail after being produced before the CBI remand magistrate in the capital on Sunday.
