We condemn the acid attack on the woman bank manager

Two miscreants in a motor bike threw acid on the face of Ms. Diksha Sonkar, Senior Manager, Bank of Baroda, Syed Sarawa Village, Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh. It is the duty of every bank employee to strongly condemn this dastardly attack. Eye witnesses reported that this heinous crime was committed on the broad day light on 8th August, 2022, Monday morning while the victim was proceeding to her branch in a two wheeler. As she was wearing helmet, the severity of the injury was reduced to a certain extent. Nevertheless, it has caused grievous injury in the hands and other parts of the body. On hearing the news, the staff members rushed to the spot and admitted her in Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital in Prayagraj after first aid. It is reported that FIR has been registered against the unknown assailants in connection with the incident and three police teams have been formed to probe the incident.
It is learnt that several such incidents are reported in Uttar Pradesh and the perpetrators of the crime go unpunished on many occasions giving room for others to indulge in such crimes. It is expected of the UP Police to book the culprits and expedite trial. The exemplary punishment in this case should serve as a deterrent.
The Management of Bank of Baroda has to set a good example by bearing the whole expenditure of the treatment and the incidental expenses of the Senior Manager without any ceiling and treating the period spent for treatment, convalescence as special leave till the victim becomes fit both physically and mentally.
