BEFI WANTS TO REOPEN 10 BPS.

Article written by Mr kamalesh Chaturvedi in facebook

Its We Bankers which demanded reopening of 10th BPS and has constantly and consistently been voicing the injustice done to bank employees. Today, we have come to see across a Circular purportedly issued by Bank Employees Federation of India demanding reopening of the 10th BPS. We give below the Circular. There can be no denying fact about the pressure built by We Bankers and Retired Bank Employees across the country which has prompted BEFI to raise demand of reopening of 10th BPS. While many bank employees have welcomed it, we need to be cautious and wait for some days to see the real intention behind it and reaction of other constituents of UFBU. We have reasons to doubt after reading the said circular and true story which had come out 4 days before the signing of BPS.
It was Sri Subhash Sawant, General Secretary, INBEF who had written to Chairman and Convenor of UFBU on 22.05.2015 i.e. before Signing of BPS that settlement going to be signed would drastically reduce the pension of Employees retired after 1.11.2012. He had sent the copy of letter from INBEF to all the constituents of UFBU. He had demanded discussion on this point before signing of the Settlement. Why BEFI did not came to support Sri Sawant and INBEF at that time? This needs clarification from BEFI.
Let us analyse the reasons put forth by BEFI in support of demand for reopening of BPS. These reasons have been given in First Para of letter itself and what does it mean ?
"According to BEFI, its because of repeated insistence of IBA that Government would not allow any further load on account of Pension and as such IBA had refused the demand for improvement in Pension and any further load beyond 2% in Basic of serving employees. "
BEFI has indirectly accepted that UFBU surrendered before IBA. Its inevitable and every prudent person can understand that during the course of negotiation, management would not readily accept all demands. Its where tools of agitation are used to force and compel the management to accept the demand. Why you believed IBA ? Why you did not took up the matter before Government directly in whose name IBA was repeatedly and consistently denying any improvement in Pension and any further load in Basic? Will you sign the settlement for reduction of present wages too on repeated insistence by IBA that Government want to reduce establishment cost? Is it a logic ?
The more derogatory remark has been made in seventh line of the circular which reads as follows :
"The employees had, therefore, to reluctantly accept the pittance 2% load on Basic Pay"
Come on Mr. Pradip Biswas, don't try to pass on your own weakness on Employees. Its you i.e. a gang of 8-10 persons and not the bank employees which accepted pittance 2% load on Basic Pay. History shows that bank employees have fought militantly for realisation of their demands and strike calls have always been successful. It were bank employees who were opposing one day strike and were demanding indefinite strike showing their willingness and determination to fight but it were you guys who persistently gave one day Strike Call and withdrew 3 days call without gaining any thing. We condemn, deplore and denounce your attempt to pass on total surrender on bank employees. Why not you accept the demand of We Bankers for referendum before CLC ? Let voice and views of Bank Employees come through referendum to testify what you are saying.
There must be honesty of purpose. These leaders must accept honestly that they committed mistake. They must come out to say that they were reluctant to fight and surrendered before IBA.
