Press Note
All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), the largest supervisory cadre Trade Union of Banking Industry representing more than 2.75 lac officers strongly condemns the statement given by Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad in Rajya Sabha yesterday. We seek unconditional apology from Shri Azad for his irresponsible, baseless and unwarranted statement. His statement has deeply hurt the bank employees particularly the officers who are giving their blood and sweat to ensure that all plans and agenda of the Government is pushed through with honesty and commitments despite al adversities. The bank employees are known for their contribution in building the Indian Economy. The pulls and pressures on the officers working in branches and at the Top Management is a well known phenomenon. We throw a challenge to Mr. Azad to come on any national channel for debate on the issue. Can we ask these politicians, bureaucrats, Governments of the times that why they are not taking strict action against the defaulters of the Banking Industry despite our vociferous demand for more than a decade? Why the names of willful defaulters are not being disclosed? We demand an immediate and transparent investigation into the whole issue, so that the people like Mr. Azad can be exposed. We also demand that code of secrecy should be removed from officers working in the Banking Industry so that we can disclose the truth and bring to books all these politicians who have brought pressure on our Top Management and also on Branch Managers.
We once again seek unconditional apology from Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad, lest we shall have to resort to our Trade Union action including peaceful demonstrations against him.
