7th Pay Commission: What’s the latest development on minimum pay hike? All you need to know

Lakhs of Central government employees and pensioners are eagerly waiting for the news on minimum pay hike. Now, it has been reported that an interim report will be submitted soon before Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. According to a report in Sen Times, National Anomaly Committee (NAC) will soon submit its interim report to the Finance Minister for over 1 crore Central government employees and pensioners.
What’s National Anomaly Committee (NAC)?
It’s a committee which was formed to look into various pay related anomalies arising out of the implementation of the 7th Central Pay Commission’s recommendations. It was announced that the 22-member panel will be headed by Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) and it will have members from both the official and staff side.
“It has been decided to set up the anomaly committee of the National Council (Joint Consultative Machinery) consisting of representatives of the official side and the staff side to settle any anomalies arising out of the implementation of the Pay Commission’s recommendations,” an order issued by the DoPT had said.
“From the government side, it will have Member (Staff) Railway Board, secretaries of Department of Telecommunications and Department of Posts, as its members. Besides them, Financial Adviser, Defence Ministry, two joint secretaries from DoPT and another Joint Secretary (Personnel) in Finance Ministry will also be part of the panel. A Deputy Secretary of the DoPT will be Member-Secretary of the panel which has 13 people from the staff side,” the order added..
The Centre had accepted most of the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, to be implemented from January 1, 2016.
Earlier in the month of June and in a bonanza to 48 lakh central government employees, the Union Cabinet had approved recommendations of 7th Central Pay Commission with 34 modifications. Reportedly, it imposed an additional annual burden of Rs 30,748 crore on the exchequer
The increased allowances, which came into effect from July 1, 2017, is based on the recommendations of the Committee on Allowances (CoA).
